More than a Wine Club
Brooks Winery has a story and a legend all its own. It embodies the sharing and caring nature of Willamette Valley, Oregon. When Jimi Brooks died suddenly in 2004 his fellow winemakers in the area volunteered to bring in the harvest and make the wine, with the help of Chris Williams the current winemaker, this gave Janie Brooks, Jimi’s sister, time to decide what to do. The choice to keep Brooks open was made to save the legacy of Jimi for his son, Pascal.
The winery has continued to grow and flourish throughout the years. So many wineries rest their laurels on a good story, but not Brooks. They have biodynamic vineyards, practice sustainability, give back through donations to 1% for the Planet and Kiss the Ground, and they are a Certified B Corporation. All these things are wonderful for the planet and for the winery, but they wanted to do even more for their customers. They wanted to go beyond.
Beyond Brooks was formed last year and it offers so much more than just wine. It is a monthly pairing of two bottles of Brooks wine and a selected partner product. They paired up with other like-minded producers to offer everything from coffee to cooking demos. There is a virtual link to get together with Janie Brooks, Bree Stock MW, and the partner of the month. It’s an opportunity to try new things from places with a similar mind set. What other wine club is lifting up other business they believe in?
And it still doesn’t stop there. The regular wine club featuring different selections of Brooks wine now has a cheese pairing option. It’s almost surprising that more wineries haven’t done something like this. Wine and cheese are such natural pairings. This also includes a virtual tasting lead by Sheri Allen, Cheese Expert. Cheese, wine, and education really do make a perfect pairing.
While so many wineries are comfortable doing what they have always done, Brooks offers opportunities to learn and engage in ways that most of us never have before. It makes you feel like you are part of something. Brooks offers so much more than your average wine club…it goes beyond.
